We are all created UNEQUALLY when it comes to health & fitness. Yes, we are all humans and have the same basic physiological make-up but that is where it pretty much ends. The differences that exist take us in many varying directions thus leading to a wide variety of results.
Think Differently
First, we do not all look at health and fitness the same way. Some of us look at it merely as a vehicle as to which to look better than we did the day before. Others look at health and fitness as a means to stay alive each day and simply be able to function in life. While there are many more who look at health and fitness as a combination of everything in between. There is no real right or wrong way to view health fitness unless it leads to unhealthy practices. The beauty is that we can all find our own motivation for adopting a health and fitness lifestyle that fits our OWN needs and we can all be successful.
Eat Differently
Nutrition, which is the engine that powers the whole health and fitness machine, is also something that plays itself out in many ways. From the hundreds of diet trends to completely unfounded information flooding social media we are constantly bombarded with choices. Less will always be more, but even more importantly, the nutrition plan that you are actually willing to follow consistently will always win over the latest trends. Just remember…food should be your fuel and everything is NOT for everybody!
Train Differently
Some people train with such efficiency and technicality that they record every aspect of their training plan to help them become successful. On the other hand, most people just want to make it to the gym consistently and get on to the next thing. Of course you can be successful with either approach as long as it is done safely and with an understanding of WHY you are doing what you are doing. If your workouts are not structured to get you closer to your goals each time then you need to re-evaluate your program, coach or both!
Different Expectations
Your goals should dictate your course of action…period. You should never just begin training and/or a new nutrition plan without having a REALISTIC expectation for the results. Far too often things are done in reverse and when you are not seeing the results that you felt you should, the plan is scrapped as not working. If time is taken to set things up correctly from the start then you would have been in a much better place to handle the level of results that you are achieving or not achieving.
At the end of the day, your results are your own for better or for worse. You are the only one that can achieve them as well as be held accountable for NOT achieving them. Keep that in mind the next time you find yourself in envy of someone else’s results.
