Meal Prepping or Meal Planning…Just Do It!

I get it, you have fat loss goals like most of the ladies that walk through our doors but are you planning your meals to meet these goals? You know EXACTLY what I am talking about…you have to add some sort of meal planning into your nutrition routine in order to be successful in any way.

“But I could not eat the same things all week”  Don’t worry sunshine, nobody is asking you to! For those that know me and how I do things, yes, I can eat similar meals for 5 days and be just fine doing so. That is because I’ve decided and am committed to the fact that my goals are so important to me that I don’t need to have a huge amount of variety in my meals during the week to make it through life. But look at it this way, we feed our pets the same food 3 times per day and make them drink only water. How is it that we simply accept this as how things are supposed to be and never bat an eyelid when it is time to feed Fido? How about we call it something sexy like “The Downward Dog Diet” and maybe it would catch on for us too?

Even if you choose to not eat the same things for 5 straight days you will most likely eat the same basic things week after week or month after month anyway because we are humans and we hate change. Your current consumption patterns just aren’t as sexy as you think they are and the less complicated you can keep your nutrition the better off you will be.

Why not look at food as exactly what it is…fuel for your body to use to recover and replenish itself? Yes, it should be delicious and yes it should be good for us but often those two worlds do not collide. We often fall prey to the tastiest but least nutritional foods there are and expect that we will make progress anyway. But we are all smart enough to know that that just isn’t true.

Every meal that you eat will not be gourmet nor will you take 60 plus minutes each time to make a meal each and every day, three times per day. You are more likely to grab and go with WHATEVER you can find at home or in the office or in between the seats of your car with the plan being “I will eat better for dinner or even the next day.” By simply adding in some level of planning into your nutritional life you can make great strides but you have to start SOMEWHERE!
