HERstory – Cecy R.

“I am learning to enjoy the pace of the process”

Coming to Aspire all started as simply an attempt to look good on my wedding day. I never anticipated it would turn into an introspective life journey.

Patience has definitely been the secret to my success. Coach Anthony taught me that the number on the scale is only a small part of a much more complex story. He helped me understand, and honestly appreciate, how a one pound difference can mean much more than weight loss or gain; it can even be something to be super proud of.

There’s a lot that keeps me motivated. As I approach 40, I’m present to the importance of maintaining my good health especially given the generational ailments that plague my family and community. Watching my kids grow up and fantasizing about someday meeting my grandkids, and maybe great-grandkids, is also a tremendous motivator. Finally, I also really just want to be one of those bad ass old ladies who are beautifully wrinkly and fit!

I’ve always enjoyed working out but I think this is just the beginning of a new journey of exploring what my body can do… and (with nudging from the coaches) being ok with what it cannot do anymore. I am really learning to enjoy the pace of the process as well. I think society teaches us to want instant results, dramatic transformations, and to think that the goal should be the smaller the better. I’m looking forward to continuing to explore what the right combination of health, nutrition, strength, and wellness are sustainable for me. And, although I’m still working on it, I’m especially looking forward to seeing the kind of results that patience, self-love, and seeing beyond a number will continue to afford me.

Spread the love!
