Fit for Life

We often hear that in terms of getting any real results from your health and fitness program that you have to make it a lifestyle.  But what does that really mean and how do you actually become fit for life?  I think the best way to define your new lifestyle will be in terms of how you approach your goals. Better health and fitness are lifelong pursuits and the day that you are done working is when you 1) give up on yourself or 2) leave this earth.  The fact that we as humans are constantly changing mentally and physically will always leave room for self improvement.

One way to get started is to set some goals that you can focus on reaching in order to create small successes along the way.  I like to always have a least one short term goal as well as a long term goal that I am always working toward so that there is NEVER a time that I am simply going through the motions in my training.

Your short term goals will undoubtedly change as you meet or even exceed them but your long term goal will always be in the back of your mind as a reminder as to why you get out of the bed in the morning.  So even on the very next day after meeting or exceeding a short term goal you will have a reason to keep trucking along your road to success knowing that you are still making positive progress.

Short term goals are like rest stops along the highway of life.  You keep driving down the road and sometimes you are happy to see the stop (goal) because you know how long it took you to get there.  Other times you simply drive right on by knowing that you are happy with your progress but don’t feel the need to stop and smell the roses.  All the while you are still riding along on your ultimate journey and your focus couldn’t be better.

Unfortunately, there are times when you get low on gas or catch a flat tire and your reactions to these times are critical.  These bumps in the road can derail many people but the fact that you’ve started and have driven this far says that this health and fitness journey means a great deal to you.  So find your nearest gas station or call roadside assistance because the road ahead is paved with good intentions and we intend on helping you through each and every mile of becoming fit for life!
