HERstory – Abby N.

I was in a rough spot in life with crippling anxiety. I could barely leave my own home and constantly had sensory overload. I was gaining weight, losing strength, and in a mental decline. My therapist recommended doing exposure therapy, and I really wanted to do something that would help both my physical and mental health. Aspire for Women was the perfect fit! Through Aspire, I was able to finally take that last step towards gaining independence and start living again.

Aspire’s women’s only atmosphere was the first green flag I saw that got me interested. I went in for my trial and loved it! I primarily see Anthony and Caroline and they’re so understanding and adaptive to my situation. If I’m close to having an anxiety attack, they slow me down and give me more calming exercises to do. Or they completely understand if I need to go home and will send me a quick text to make sure I’m ok and got home safely. They’ve never once tried to get me to “push through” any anxiety attacks. I’m only ever encouraged and supported in positive ways. The gym is also rather calm. There’s no loud music, no yelling/screaming, and no judgment. It’s a positive atmosphere with light conversations, supportive women, and kind-hearted knowledgeable coaches.

I’ve been going to Aspire for roughly 2 years now and I’ve been able to gain so much of my independence back, my mental state is so much better, and I have a healthy relationship with my body that I didn’t realize I didn’t have before. It’s not about losing weight anymore, but being strong and thankful for what all my body does for me. Aspire has helped me in so many ways mentally and physically and I plan on staying for as long as I can.
